Contract Lifting FAQs
Contract Lifts are the perfect option for those companies who do not have their own Appointed Person, qualified Crane Supervisors and slinger signallers and are looking for a fully managed and insured, turnkey lifting service.
This option means we would provide specialist equipment, and lift team to complete your task. Customers who opt for a Contract Lift provided under CPA (Construction Plant Hire Association) contract lift terms and conditions receive a complete package.
- Site visits/scope of work
- Selection of required crane & equipment
- Lifting plans
- Risk assessments
- Method statements
- Appointed person
- Crane Supervisors
- Road &Traffic management
- Quality, health & safety & environmental analysis
- Road closures and local authority applications.
- Damage to crane
- Loss of hire during the repair
- Lifted Goods
- Public Liability
All the above are delivered by our time served contract lift management and site teams. This means we can plan and deliver the lift in the safest and most efficient manner possible. All CPA Contract Lifting Services carried out by Maxim Lifting Services will be undertaken in accordance with BS7121 and L.O.L.E.R 1998.
Under the terms of a standard CPA Contract Lift, safe operation of the crane and equipment, the safety and welfare of the operator’s, crane supervisors, slingers and site personnel are our responsibility including the supply of Appointed Person who will be responsible for all aspects of safely planning and executing the lift.
Maxim works with a vast trade partner network which enables us to select the correct equipment to complete the task safely, efficiently and be financially competitive, regardless of the contract location.
Maxim Contract Lift comes with the reassurance that the majority of the responsibilities, legal liabilities and potential financial risks will sit with us, rather than with you or your business.
As well as having everything included in the price, from the crane and equipment to the operator and personnel, contract lift hire also includes insurance. Because of the dangerous nature of crane lifting operations, insurance is an essential part of crane hire.
But if you opt for contract lift hire, we will take care of insurance cover for loss of or damage to the equipment caused by ourselves and loss of or damage to third party property caused by ourselves during the lifting contract. We will also provide insurance cover for a maximum liability of £20,000,000 in respect of loss or damage to first-party or death/injury to third party persons and £100,000 of goods lifted cover as standard.
With the greater volume of work and responsibility Maxim takes on with a contract lift hire, not least the insurance costs needed to cover plant, goods and personnel on site, contract lift hire services costs more as a package in comparison with CPA crane hire.
With CPA Crane hire several additional costs need to be factored in. If you hire a crane, for example, you will need to hold hired in plant insurance. If you hire in plant on a regular basis and have a long-term insurance policy, this might not be much of an issue, but for occasional ad-hoc cover, Hired In Plant Insurance can be costly.
Qualified Personnel is an even bigger cost consideration. Unless you hire cranes on a regular basis, you are unlikely to employ qualified Lift Supervisor’s and Slinger Signallers or have a trained and experienced Appointed Person as per BS 7121 and L.O.L.E.R 98 requirements. The additional cost of a contract lift service includes the provision of qualified people to take on these roles and so becomes a necessary expense.
If you do not have the required insurance, experience, or qualified personnel to manage a crane operation safely and legally then Maxim’s Contract Lifting Service would be the choice for you.
