Our 3rd Project with ISG at Cardiff Interchange which is a 3-tower crane site – The new Interchange building is located on the site of the former Marland House office building and the former Wood Street NCP Car Park, and, once complete, will form the eastern side of the major redevelopment programme known as Central Square. It consists of a 14-bay bus (and coach) station including passenger concourse, entrance foyer, and, front and back of house support facilities, a circa 250 space, split-plate multi-storey car park, a combined tall (24 storey) and mid-rise block of 318 apartments, a services structure, and an office building over 7 floors. Tower cranes used on this project are Potain MR 160 C and 2 x Potain MR 225 A.
Maxim having worked with ISG on two previous projects continued to develop robust safety systems ensuring every lift on site had been properly planned and accepted by Maxim’s project AP. Digital tracking systems were again deployed to monitor all aspects of the project’s lifting requirements including logging crane team members – plant and tackle inspections and expiry dates with weekly site audits and meetings to discuss any issues and upcoming requirements. Rescue and recovery planning provided with training for rescue team members as standard on all Maxim sites with the appropriate recovery kit in designated emergency areas across the site.
Lifting assurance services were also provided to ensure erection and dismantle operations for the sites 3 x Tower Cranes were viable and the proximity to the rail lines was considered and authorised.
